State Park
Myre-Big Island State Park
Three miles southeast of Albert Lea on County Road 38 (Exit 11 on Interstate 35) Hiking, biking, camping, wildlife watching,
snowshoeing, cross country skiing and canoeing are popular activities enjoyed by the approximately 125,000 annual visitors. The State Park is an oasis of natural diversity in a prairie landscape surrounded by agricultural land uses. Albert Lea Lake
Fishing, small boats & sailing. Lake access from Frank Avenue at the south end the of channel, Little Island at Myre Big Island State Park, metal ramp; South Shore Drive-concrete ramp. Located by the channel's entrance is - The “Pelican Breeze II” Cruise Boat.

Fountain Lake
Fishing, water skiing and sailing. Located in the heart of Albert Lea; boat access located off Richway Drive and Highway 13
Fishing Dock in Park.

County Lakes for Recreational Use
Pickerel Lake, Freeborn Lake, Bear Lake, Geneva Lake,
Twin Lakes and State Line Lake, Emmons.

Two sheets of indoor ice. Ice will be maintained year around on one of the rinks. Look for summer public ice skating times and other ice events in our summer program brochure. Space for dry floor events and meeting rooms available on request.

Activities offered for the whole family to enjoy include: swimming pool, aerobics, weight room, "Eagle” fitness center, indoor running track, partyroom, sauna and steam room, 3 racquetball courts and three wallyball courts. The Y offers summer youth and camp programs.

Snowmobile Trails
Tired of riding groomed ditches? Come to Freeborn County and ride over 200 miles of trails through scenic woods with an abundance of wildlife. Two groomers running daily. Most trails double wide for safety.

City Parks & Facilities
Our community has abundant natural and historic areas that have been developed into over 300 acres of quality parks, recreation areas, and open space. All of the parks are open to the public, free of charge.

Throughout Albert Lea, 41 parks and recreation areas offer a wide variety of recreational and leisure facilities, including neighborhood park playfields, playground equipment, basketball courts, tennis courts, fishing areas, natural open spaces, picnic areas, softball and baseball diamonds, a swimming pool, a civic theatre, a senior center, and an ice arena.

The major parks in Albert Lea are:
Edgewater
Edgewater & Lakeview. Pavilions, bandshell, picnic areas, lake shore, boat launch and playground equipment. Music in bandshell during summer.

Bancroft Bay
Located at the west end of Hammer Road. Includes nature walks, picnic and lake shore.

City Beach
North Shore & Johnson Avenue. Activities for the whole family including swimming, tennis and sand volleyball courts. No lifeguards on duty.

J. M. Snyder
Bridge Avenue & Riverland Drive. Includes five lighted softball diamonds and 4 large sand volleyball courts.
